Its name, “Tie Guan Yin,” means “Iron Bodhisattva Guanyin,” and refers to the goddess of compassion in Chinese Buddhism. According to legend, a farmer, inspired by a statue of Guanyin in a neglected temple, regularly made offerings of tea leaves to her. The grateful goddess gifted him with a special tea bush, which is now known as Tie Guan Yin. It is also a tea that combines strength and delicacy—its leaves are heavy and shiny, and its flavor is as pure and beautiful as the goddess Guanyin herself.

This tea grows on steep, misty mountainsides, in an ideal climate that gives it its unique character. The production process includes gentle fermentation and meticulous rolling of the leaves, which gives the tea its complex flavor profile.
